Director

Bradley Spray MEng (Hons)

BJS Engineering was founded by Bradley Spray, a structural engineer with a first-class honours master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Brighton and over twelve years of industry experience.

The practice specialises in residential and small commercial structural engineering, working closely with homeowners, architects, builders and surveyors to deliver designs that are clear, buildable and properly evidenced.

Our approach is straightforward: we listen to what you need, produce concise calculations and drawings, and respond quickly throughout the project.

Since establishing in 2018, BJS Engineering has completed over 650 projects across East Sussex, Kent and Greater London - ranging from simple lintel designs to extensions, refurbishments and repair schemes for existing properties.

Selected project types completed by the practice.

Residential Conversion

Church Conversion & Bespoke Steel Staircase

Conversion of an existing church building into residential use, including modification of timber trusses to allow passage through at first floor level and the design of a bespoke steel staircase.

Rear and Side Extension

Residential Extension & Roof Alterations

Structural design for a single-storey rear extension and two-storey side extension, including a vaulted first-floor roof structure and the supporting steelwork required to open up the existing property.

Barn Conversion

Barn Conversion & New Structural Frame

Barn conversion with an existing concrete frame retained within the plan but structurally isolated. A new structure was built around it to form the barn-style building while keeping the frame hidden within the visible timber structure.
